Neura Robotics Expands Physical AI Training Network in Germany

Robots don’t learn from textbooks. They learn from doing – thousands of repetitions, in real environments, with real physics. That’s the problem Neura Robotics is solving at scale, and its newest Neura Gym, announced in partnership with RWTH Aachen University, just made Germany the heart of Europe’s Physical AI training infrastructure.

The RWTH Aachen partnership is the latest expansion in Neura’s rapidly growing global network – and with a $1.4 billion Series C already secured, it’s clear the German startup isn’t moving slowly.

What a Neura Gym Actually Is

Neura Gym is a global network of physical training facilities where robots practice real tasks in authentic environments, generating high-quality training data from real physics, variability, and constraints that simulation alone cannot replicate.

That last point is the whole argument. Simulation is useful, but it doesn’t capture the full messiness of the physical world. A box that wobbles, a surface that’s slightly uneven, a grip that needs adjusting – each facility is built around partners’ specific use cases and domain expertise, combined with Neura’s physical AI knowledge, training pipeline, and infrastructure, so industrial teams can train, validate, and integrate robots and focus entirely on their operations.

Ten Gyms in Development, Five Operational by Year-End

While ten Neura Gyms are currently under development, five locations across Europe, the United States, and China will be operational by end of 2026. The network is anchored by two German flagship sites – the newly announced Neura Gym RWTH Aachen at Hightech Campus Melaten, and the TUM RoboGym opening at Munich Airport in the fourth quarter in collaboration with the Technical University of Munich and its Munich Institute of Robotics and Machine Intelligence.

Together, these two centers of excellence position Germany as the backbone of Europe’s Physical AI infrastructure.

The Data Problem That Makes All This Necessary

Why does a humanoid robot company need a global network of physical gyms? The answer comes down to a stark comparison. Unlike large language models, which train on trillions of data points, robots have access to a fraction of that volume.

That gap isn’t a minor inconvenience – it’s the fundamental constraint holding back the entire field. Language models could scrape the internet for training data. Robots have to earn theirs the hard way, through physical interaction with the real world, task by task, environment by environment.

Germany as a Sovereign Physical AI Hub

The two German Neura Gyms aren’t just training facilities. They’re a deliberate geopolitical statement. As RWTH Aachen and TUM sign on, Germany is positioning itself as the location where Europe’s robots will be trained – keeping data, infrastructure, and intellectual property inside European borders during a period of intensifying global competition in AI.

European infrastructure ensures data stays fully under partners’ control – a selling point that matters considerably more in 2026 than it did even two years ago.

A $1.4B War Chest Backing the Rollout

The Neura Gym network isn’t a speculative side project. Neura Robotics announced a landmark Series C financing with a total round size of up to $1.4 billion to accelerate its mission of building the world’s leading Physical AI platform, with capital designated to drive serial production to multi-million robots by 2030 and support the global rollout of Neura Gyms.

AWS has also entered a strategic collaboration with Neura, serving as Neura’s primary cloud provider and hosting the Neuraverse platform for Physical AI training, real-time data processing, and shared intelligence across robot fleets. Neura Gym will integrate with AWS services, including Amazon SageMaker, to accelerate training pipelines that combine real-world sensor data with high-fidelity simulation.

That combination – physical training environments feeding into cloud-scale AI pipelines – is what makes the Neura Gym model structurally different from most robotics training approaches.

Software companies build their competitive moats in data centers. Neura Robotics is building its moat in physical facilities where robots do real work and generate data that no simulation can replicate.
